My 2 year and 7 months old son, Lance who was diagnosed with Autism and Mixed Receptive Expressive Language Disorder last year has not yet started speaking like an average child. He was very delayed for his age. Every night, when i turn on the dimlight as a signal to him that it is time to sleep, we will say our prayers and afterwards sing our bedtime song, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
Although, he cannot say the words, he was TRYING his best to sing by humming and trying to say the words. Listening to him humming and following the notes of the song made me so proud of him that it brought tears to my eyes. Other parents may not understand me at all, but being a mom of a child with autism, every single achievement, tiny or big is a thing I will be very proud of.
